Over the last decade, this expertise has been enhanced through our involvement into major projects paving the way for nuclear industrial renewal: research reactor on material ageing under irradiation Jules Horowitz, research reactor on fusion reaction ITER, latest generation of water-cooled reactors EPR, sodium-cooled fast breeder reactor ASTRID.

As a result of our continued success and growth in the UK, we’re looking for a Senior Project Manager - Nuclear Island Civil works to lead a team in the detailed design and execution of civil works for nuclear island buildings, ensuring projects meet their objectives in terms of quality, time, and budget.

In this critical role, you’ll not only oversee project planning, scope definition, and cost control but also identify and capitalize on commercial opportunities to ensure minimum revenue, order intake, and profit margins are achieved. As the primary liaison for consortium and client interactions, you will drive project excellence and innovation, ensuring alignment with the strategic goals of the Nuclear Reactor International market.

 

Key responsibilities will include:

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Provide guidance and leadership to a team of project managers.
  • Ensure clear communication of project objectives, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Mentor and develop project managers to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment that encourages accountability and high performance.

Project Planning and Execution:

  • Oversee the full scope of Sizewell C 1000 series contracts, including planning, design, execution, monitoring, and closure.
  • Ensure that all projects adhere to industry standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements specific to nuclear construction.
  • Manage multiple project timelines concurrently, adjusting as necessary to meet changing needs and requirements.

Cost Management:

  • Develop and control project budgets to ensure financial objectives are met.
  • Implement cost-saving measures without compromising on safety or quality.
  • Provide regular financial reports to senior management on project progress.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders and external clients.
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to manage expectations.
  • Negotiate with contractors and suppliers to achieve favourable terms.

Excellence and Innovation:

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the project management team.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation in processes, tools, and technologies.
  • Lead initiatives that enhance efficiency, reduce costs, or improve quality.

Commercial Strategy and Revenue Growth:

  • Proactively identify and exploit commercial opportunities to ensure revenue, order intake, and margin goals are met or exceeded.
  • Collaborate with Business development and marketing teams to align project deliverables with market demands and opportunities.

Risk Management:

  • Proactively identify potential risks associated with projects.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project outcomes.

Reporting:

  • Prepare comprehensive status reports for senior management.
  • Document lessons learned and integrate them into future project phases.

Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • PMP certification or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management within the nuclear industry or similar highly regulated environment.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale civil construction projects with a focus on detailed design.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry best practices, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
