Job description

Specific Responsibilities

  • Manages all pre- and post- contract activities for the assigned projects.
  • Recommending on construction contract procurement and types of underlying contracts and agreements.
  • Interface with internal functions to evaluate contract compliance; consolidate and coordinate the information with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Developing, implementing and managing systems and procedures for the monitoring of external and internal contracts to ensure that contractual compliance issues are resolved timely & effectively.
  • Reviewing change order requests and claims of clients and/or subcontractors, and preparing the contractual correspondence as required.
  • Identifying potential claims, checking for compliance with applicable contractual terms and ensuring effective negotiation and settlement of claims.
  • Preparing claims to negotiate with clients, including the calculation of losses incurred through defaults on contractual obligations, formulating suggestions to remedy failure to meet contractual obligations.
  • Financial budget supervision and ensuring the cost-effectiveness and value for money of contracts are other key tasks.
  • Ensuring that each step complies with the applicable Government Tender Laws and international best commercial practices.
  • Maintaining a register of contractual commercial topics pertaining to each contract. 
  • Driving continuous improvement of commercial processes through refining contract formulation activities, systems and procedures.
  • Coordinating on all matters concerning contract administration, claims, disputes, contract interpretation and cost analysis.
  • Taking responsibility for all financial contract management activities including the reviewing and the approving of payment certificates, invoicing from subcontractors and to the client(internal and external).

Skills / Competencies

  • University degree in Business Administration, Finance, Law, Quantity Survey, Contract Management or related discipline.
  • Affiliation to chartered professional bodies specialized in Contract Management or Commercial arbitration is preferred( Member of R.I.C.S)
  • 10+ year of professional experience in the Engineering Industry as a Contract Administrator, Commercial Arbitrator or Claim Practitioner.
  • Must demonstrate superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Significant experience progressive responsibility with quantifiable results in contract negotiation, administration and/or management.
  • Strong background in variations, changes orders, and Contract administration On-site Construction Supervision experience.
  • Experience of developing successful relationships at a senior level.
  • Demonstrated negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse stakeholders at all levels in order to negotiate  win-win situations
