Egis has been working in Romania for more than 25 years, providing engineering and consultancy services in road and rail transport sectors as well as water and environment, energy and urban development markets.

Our diverse team is working on more than 20 major infrastructure projects today with many more planned or expected. Amongst these are complex projects such as the Railway Feasibility studies for Predeal-Brasov and for Apahida Ilva-Mica. Designing and managing complex rail transportation projects, from high speed to urban mass transit is an increasingly important focus of our mission in Romania, drawing upon the 50+ years of experience that Egis group has in the rail domain.

Job description

Role is full-time and based in our offices in Bucharest, Romania. You may also need to travel to France & other regions occasionally to coordinate with other European rail teams.

Depending on your level of experience, the job of a Rail design engineer will require you to be able to:

▬    Provide expertise in rail design, helping to develop a team of local and international experts for the production of engineering services to public clients and to private contractors

▬    Identify and develop technical services to offer to clients depending on your own field of competence (systems, civils, system integration) etc

▬    Participate in commercial activities providing technical input to the preparation of technical offers

▬    Prepare technical design solutions using recognised design tools and provide support to help the team prepare technical plans and project reports

▬    Provide technical documentation to the Technical Controllers and participate in technical controls

▬    Find solutions to remediate project issues (eg due to technical requirements or time schedules)

▬    Build and manage relationships with clients and partners involved directly or indirectly in the project

▬    Participates and support review and approvals processes, including from sub-designers

▬    Manage key activities, tasks or projects including delivery to the client.

▬    Ensures adherence to quality management procedures.

▬    Work to tight and often changing deadlines

Profile

We recognize that each applicant will bring different experience, but the ideal candidate will have:

▬    Construction University degree, faculty of railways, roads & bridges

▬    Experience in technical project management

▬    Good skills in organising, scheduling, planning and co-ordinating as part of a team

▬    Flexibility and adaptability, to respond to tight deadlines

▬    Fluent Romanian, and preferably good spoken and written English

▬    Strong computer skills (proficiency in recognised design software and Microsoft applications).
