We are seeking a Senior Environmental Consultant to join us in a senior role to take responsibility for the management of our environmental work and environmental team.  This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to make their mark in the sector, with endless possibilities.  We are committed to expanding in this area and would rely on this person to both input into our strategy and implement it for future growth.

Job description

Responsibilities:

  • Leading a team of environmentalists and being responsible for a body of work within our organisation.
  • Leading, managing and coordinating the multidisciplinary environmental inputs to our projects across a wide range of sectors, transportation, civil infrastructure and developments.
  • A focus on the management of the EIA process for projects ensuring the gain development consent.
  • Includes managing the preparation of scoping documents, Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA) reports, Appropriate Assessment (AAs) and Natura Impact Assessments (NISs) reports, along with the development of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs), and Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEAs).
  • Have responsibility for the development of Construction Environmental Plans, Construction Monitoring Plans and the technical review of specialist reports.
  • Working in partnership with our technical teams and liaising with clients and external teams.
  • Working as part of integrated design teams identifying environmental constraints, avoid impacts and develop solutions in accordance with the mitigation hierarchy, along with delivering benefits where possible.
  • Managing resources and budgets (support by senior management).
  • Leading and supporting business development opportunities and technical and financial proposal development
  • Promoting our environmental services to both internal and external audiences
  • Mentoring junior colleagues

Location:  Dublin, Cork, Limerick or Castlebar with hybrid and remote working options available

Profile

Essential Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Demonstratable experience of coordinating multidisciplinary environmental inputs to infrastructure development projects.
  • Proven experience of successfully managing the EIA process, environmental assessment methods and applicable planning legislation
  • A degree in a relevant environmental discipline
  • Chartered status with a governing institution
  • More than ten years post graduate experience in a consultancy environmental delivering environmental/planning services for large infrastructure projects.
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant Irish and European planning and environmental legislation e.g. EIA Directive and transposing Regulations.
  • Detailed knowledge of the Habitats Directive, and the Appropriate Assessment (AA) process
  • Detailed knowledge of Irish Environmental and Planning Legislation.
  • Excellent organisational and coordinating skills.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Must have worked as part of a wider team with experience of managing deliverables to deadlines.
  • Hard working, pragmatic and highly motivated individual - client focused with good interpersonal skills and team approach.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to record data efficiently and methodically.
  • Experience in coordinating planning applications and associated documentation.
  • Full clean driving licence.

Desirable Qualifications & Requirements:

  • A master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience of the various consenting regimes an advantage.
  • Experience in line management duties and staff mentoring.
  • Experience utilising GIS systems e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS, MapInfo and or others.
