Job description

As directed by the national rail lead, you will undertake the engineering management, design, production of technical studies or certification/verification activities on current or future projects, particularly in Victoria. You will be supported by Egis engineers and experts in Australia and other technical centres overseas.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Management of rollingstock design including drawings, design reports, and engineering calculations to provide assurance that the design meets the clients’ requirements and railway best practice
  • Ensure rollingstock design is meeting requirements specification.
  • Assess rollingstock structural design conformity.
  • Be a technical mater expert for DMU and EMU vehicles
  • Act as the rollingstock Independent Certifier or deputy in relevant projects
  • Identifying and assisting in resolving non-conformances with the design standards or the operational requirements
  • Assisting with the preparation of design specifications for the collection of design inputs such as site survey
  • Being actively involved in safety in design, risk assessments, and peer reviews
  • Liaising with the various internal stakeholders and contributors (e.g. designers) and external technical/project stakeholders (e.g. project partners, railway infrastructure owner/client)
  • Providing support to the national rail lead in the preparation of tender response
  • Participating in internal working groups to promote continuous improvement and innovation in technical expertise and service delivery.


  • Degree or higher in engineering discipline, or proven industry background.
  • Experience of working in rolling stock engineering, within system engineering, design, maintenance or product introduction
  • Mechanically or electrically trained.
  • Knowledge of rolling stock engineering such a requirements management, design, system engineering is preferred but not essential.
  • Experience in rolling stock contractor, engineering consultancy or certification organisation.
  • Good communication of English language
