Egis Road and Tunnel Operation Ireland (ERTO) is an Irish company established in 2005 and is part of Egis Projects Ireland. We manage Dublin Tunnel, Jack Lynch Tunnel in Cork and the Motorway Traffic Control Centre (MTCC) for Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII).


We provide 24 hour assistance to the Emergency Roadside telephone network, we interface with the Gardai, Fire brigade and other services in the safe management of our motorways and tunnels.

Job description

The primary function of the Quantity Surveyor is to manage the costs and budget of a building project related to mechanical and electrical services plus occasional civil works. Ensuring that the project meets legal and quality standards and ensuring clients get value for money.



  • Prepare cost plans and budgets by forecasting the cost of the different mechanical and electrical services.
  • Evaluate the terms and conditions of sub-contractors / contracts.
  • Assist in the tendering process, review bids and help select suppliers and subcontractors.
  •  Draft pre- and post-contract correspondence in consultation with the Project Manager/Director · Identify if material and labour purchases are scope or variation to the budget.
  • Ensure control of client invoicing by submission of invoices and tracking of payment etc.
  • Administer payments to subcontractors and suppliers by reviewing submissions in terms of their contracts.
  •  Liaise closely with the Financial Department on project reporting and financials. · Resolve disputes in relation to client / subcontractor issues.
  • Manage and evaluate any variations or changes to the contract, submit and negotiate claim settlements.
  •  Support with subcontract tender process and support the preparation of subcontract documentation.
  •  Assist the accurate monthly reporting of cost and value on the directorate in line with the company’s reporting process.
  • Monitor and report on the project’s cash flow and stage payments.
  • Identify potential risks and opportunities and escalate as appropriate.



  • A relevant Quantity Surveying qualification 
  • A minimum of 5 years experience.
  • A proven track record in dealing with Subcontractors and Clients.
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to analyse and interpret contractual documents. 
  • Ability to negotiate.
  • Good understanding of the Irish M&E and construction industries
  • The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Strong IT skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ambitious and committed to deliver an excellent standard of work to clients.
