Job description

Egis Transport Solutions, a business unit of the Egis Group, brings together all of the necessary expertise for guided urban transport and heavy rail: systems, automation, rolling stock, safety, equipment, civil engineering, environment, etc.

The business is looking to expand its delivery capability in the UK with the development of a design team.

About the role 

As a Principal Engineer, you will be a senior member of the team as it grows. You will be required to support the Head of Signalling & Telecoms in current commissions which may mean assuming the CEM or DPE role.  We are looking for someone who will take this challenge head-on, and be part of a dynamic team with big ambitions. We will be looking to provide capabilities across light, heavy and metro rail systems.

  • The Principal Engineer will be key to developing a get it right-first time culture within the team, responsibilities are likely to include:
  • Undertaking the CRE role where required
  • Undertaking CEM/DPE role as required (possibly under mentorship)
  • Develop design from feasibility up to As-Built
  • Manage a small team of engineers
    Deputise for the Head of Signalling & Telecoms where required
  • Have a good understanding of relevant legislation such as CDM and CSM and advise the team accordingly

    This role may also include working on projects internationally for EGIS Transport Solutions or other EGIS subsidiaries.


Profile

Person Specification, Experience & Knowledge

Essential:

  • Experience in undertaking the CRE role
  • Proven capability in managing design interfaces and integration processes
  • Experience working in an engineering production environment
  • A clear understanding of a multi-disciplinary design approach and the delivery of projects to a high quality, throughout all design stage gates
  • Good knowledge of UK design standards, such as Network Rail, HS2 and TfL
