Job description

 

The M25 is one of our Flagship projects in the UK! It is the most used part of the UK Strategic Road Network with it seeing over 200,000 vehicles per day and it’s a critical infrastructure asset for personal and goods vehicles into and around our capital. The network includes around 800 structures and 5 tunnels, so it requires high levels of performance, constant improvement and repairs to keep it operating smoothly.

 

We’ve formed a Joint Venture project called Connect Plus Services (CPS) to work with our partners to widen, operate and maintain the M25 under a 30-year contract and we are looking for a Quality Auditor to initiate and undertake internal & external audits on all CPS, sub-contractor and supplier activities to provide confidence to the organisation, its customers and its stakeholders that the requirements of the contract are being met.  

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Monitor implementation of the Quality Plan across the business and verify that requirements are being met.
  • Be able to deal with people across all levels of management & staff in CPS.
  • Carry out and / or lead audits assuring that business systems, policies, processes, procedures and contractual obligations are being properly implemented and take appropriate action / escalation where it is found that compliance is being breached.
  • Undertake observer roles during execution of external audits on CPS.
  • Ensure NCR’s, observations, areas of improvement and best practice are recognised and recorded.
  • Support the business in ensuring appropriate corrective actions are taken and documented. 
  • Interact with external auditing governing bodies to maintain required certification.
  • Monitor and review the Integrated Management System for compliance and appropriateness. 
  • Carry out required quality and compliance investigations including Remedial Action Plans (RAPs), Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) and Key Issue Reports.
  • Provide performance data and produce reports to meet contractual requirements and performance information.
  • Implement effective personal CPD to achieve and maintain up-to-date knowledge of ISO requirements, assurance developments, regulation and thinking in the construction sector and elsewhere in order to bring best practice to Connect Plus Services
  • Assist with developing, mapping, maintaining and improving systems and processes to ensure document control and system compliance.
  • Provide education on audit requirements to all staff across the business, sub-contractors and supply chain as appropriate.
  • Build strong relationships with CPS directors, managers, and delivery teams and project managers. 

Profile

 

  • Experience in developing, implementing and maintaining quality management systems.
  • Have completed an ISO 9001 UKAS recognised internal auditors' course as a minimum with requirement to attend and pass UKAS recognised ISO 9001 Lead Auditor course.
  • Have knowledge audit procedures, including types of audits, planning techniques, testing and sampling methods involved in auditing.
  • Has an ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts. 
  • Can prepare and deliver reports orally and in writing.
  • Have an objective view from audit findings and persuasive manner to assist developing improvements.
  • Has good interpersonal and communication skills and acts in an independent and professional manner with the ability to influence others.
  • Is a self-starter who manages their own time and seeks to add value to their function. 
  • Has an enquiring and questioning approach to audit work

The following qualities/experience are desirable:

  • Knowledge of the highways sector or experience within a heavily regulated service or operations organisation.
  • Knowledge of other ISO standards, e.g. 14001, 45001, 27001, 55001
  • Detailed understanding of some CPS activities and general understanding of others.
  • Hold or have held IRCA Lead Auditor status.
