We are looking for a highly experienced passionate and motivated individual to champion and lead the Group’s sustainable development through its ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) and Climate agenda in the Europe/Africa region for Egis, with a particular focus on the UK.
Your role will be a combination of evangelist, marketeer, communicator and analyst. Working directly with the Europe/Africa and UK Management Teams, and Egis’ Sustainable Development Management at Corporate Level, you will understand what the business needs to do to deliver robust, market leading, data driven environmental sustainability and social value (including EDI) strategies which will make our world a better place, our business a great place to work, and will enable us to retain and win business.
You will cascade the Group ESG and Climate agenda in Europe, Africa and UK within the boundaries of the national ESG contexts. Beyond promotion, championing and communication of group policies and processes, your main focus of activity will in the UK market.
You will not be able to fully achieve your objectives in isolation, and it will be important to build your team, both through recruitment and a network of collaborators in both the regions and the BLs.
The Role:
- Manage the development and implementation of agreed Egis ESG strategies in line with the Egis Group Corporate ‘Impact the Future’ and ‘Climate’ Strategies, including existing and new initiatives
- Oversee all internal and external reporting requirements to ensure this accurately reflects the business’ working practices and is in line with regulatory, client and other stakeholder requirements
- Implement a set of Group’s KPI metrics to measure, monitor and report on progress and communicate/present performance data across the organisation and to external stakeholders.
- Develop excellent relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including colleagues, customers, regulators, suppliers and opinion formers
- Understand and effectively articulate national/sector/competitor best practice and actual performance
- Actively promote and communicate ESG practices internally
- Ensure the proper implementation of Egis’ ESG policies and objectives
- Provide subject matter expertise to ensure the ESG agenda is reflected in business plans and objectives
- Implement ESG accountability systems and processes and ensure appropriate policy and guidance is in place to support ESG activities across the business
- Inform the business of pending/planned changes and initiatives and put forward effective strategic and commercially viable plans to address them
- Ensure that the standards and policies set out for suppliers and the processes to ensure compliance with them meet regulatory requirements and stakeholder expectations
For the UK more specifically:
- Establish and lead an internal Egis UK Environmental Sustainability and Social Value Steering Committee to drive the Egis UK ESG agenda
- Support and advise the other regions, set out what the local environmental sustainability and social value strategy approaches should be and obtain enthusiastic support from key stakeholders
- Represent Egis in the region and showcase relevant ESG activities
- Influence PR, Marketing, Communications, Bid and Tender teams to highlight our sustainable development credentials
Hybrid working is possible for this role, with the main office base in London. Occasional travel to Egis HQ in Paris and around the UK. By exception and agreement to other parts of Europe/Africa.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Substantial experience of developing and implementing ESG strategies (in-house or consulting)
- Extensive experience in managing, motivation and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
- Broad knowledge of sustainability and social value topics
- Proficient in translating technical facts and figures into business language
- Experience of leading a team and proven ability to influence at senior levels within an organisation
- Working language will be English - ability to speak another language would be an advantage but is not a requirement
Qualifications:
- Degree or equivalent in sustainability related subject
- Membership of relevant professional body (e.g. Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment)
