To provide Mechanical and Public Health engineering support on the HS2 Old Oak Common project through design to completion. This will involve all stages from design, installation, testing and commissioning. Support to Mechanical and Public Health construction teams to ensure successful delivery from a HSE, programme, quality and compliance perspectives.
As the Senior/Principal Mechanical/Public Health Engineer you will be responsible for leading VVB’s and the JV known as Anthro (VVB & Egis) Mechanical/Public Health function.
You will lead a small Engineering team to deliver the design, installation and commissioning of either the Mechanical or Public Health scope of works at HS2 Old Oak Common Station. This incorporates parts of the station which work to HS2, Network Rail (NR), or both technical standards. The role is working in the Rail sector, experience in Rail or related infrastructure sectors would be ideal.
This is a project based in Acton for at least 3-5 days per week initially.

This role will be working for VVB Engineering, a joint venture partner of Egis as part of the Anthro JV managing the MEP program of works at Old Oak Common.
Qualifications
Essential
• Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering
• Engineering Council Registration as Incorporated Engineer
• Registered member of IMechE, IET, CIBSE or other recognised Engineering Council Institutions
• SMSTS, SSSTS or IOSH Managing Safety
• CSCS Card – AQP or PQP min
Desired
• Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Engineering Council Registration as Chartered Engineer
• Project management qualification, APM, PRINCE 2 or equivalent
• Formal HSE training, NEBOSH Construction Certificate
• DSEAR & ATEX formal training
Technical knowledge
Essential
- Knowledge of relevant Mechanical and Public Health installations legislation and standards, BIM and design modelling standards and all other associated standards and legislation.
- Knowledge of design processes and associated compliance
Advanced MS Office skills including Excel - Utilisation of MS Project or P6
Working knowledge of the following systems: - Fire rated ductwork
- Large HVAC systems inc heatpumps
- Staircase Pressurisation Systems
- Smoke Clearance
- Public Health (Potable water, DHW, gravity and pumped drainage, rain water collection etc)
- Knowledge of implications of offsite construction to design.
Desired
- Revit (or equivalent BIM product)
- Utilisation of Mechanical design Packages (HEVACOMP, IES etc)
- Utilisation of pipe stress analysis software (AUTOPipe or CASEAR II)
- Sustainability awareness
- Design using AutoCAD, Microstation or Revit Awareness of DSEAR/ATEX requirements and obligations as designer and installer.
- Awareness of pipe stress and dynamic pipe loads (surge)
