Job description

With over 50 years of experience in the rail industry, we’ve delivered complex and challenging multidisciplinary projects all over the world. Our expertise extends to depots, operations, maintenance analytics and asset management across all aspects of rail, including transport, technical and sustainability assessments and systems infrastructure.

We are looking for a Planning Engineer to join our Old Oak Common Station project team to play an integral role in the development of our delivery capability, integrating the delivery of the design procurement construction and testing & commissioning for this major Mechanical Electrical Public Health Fire and Communication (MEPHFC ) contract.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop the scope and work breakdown structure for the different parts of the delivery programme, including the capture of key assumptions
  • Work closely with the Project Controls / Planning team to ensure that the programme, budget and risk baselines are consistent and integrated
  • Support the Head of Planning in making timely submissions of Clause 32 programmes
  • Manage and control the programme comments made by the main Contractor and ensure timely close out
  • Produce and submit Programme communications on CEMAR and manage the regular follow up discussions with the main Contractor to ensure we maintain an Accepted Programme throughout the duration of the project
  • Liaise with the Design Team and ensure design deliverables are managed and tracked regularly on the programme including the impact on procurement and construction
  • Liaise with the Quality & Assurance team on a continuous basis and ensure hand over deliverables are managed and tracked regularly in the programme
  • Align the technical and construction Assurance processes to the programme and track and control deliverables
  • Implement Earned Value Anaysis (EVA) by integrating cost and programme parameters
  • Coordinate with the commercial team and align on the Key Performance Indicators including SPI and CPI. Provide critical analysis when deviation from the baseline occurs

  • Carry out time impact assessment for the changes in accordance to clause 62 of the contract and the change control process
  • Able to manage and chair a programme workshop to review time impact assessments with the wider team and propose mitigation measures
  • Able to integrate the Tender Event Schedule with the programme and implement logic  reflecting procurement relationship with design and construction. Track long lead items from the programme including any impact to the budget, Target Price and installation
  • Update Programme for Actual progress on site in line with the Site Shift Reports.

Profile

  •  Expert level knowledge of Primavera (P6) and MS Project
  • A proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications
  • Degree educated ideally
  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent (A-level)
  • Good level of technical understanding
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Strong planning and organising skills with demonstrated ability to manage in fine detail
  • Ability to interface with all relevant levels of client organisation
