Egis with its partner Gadish (altogether called METAV) have been appointed as Network Manager, to work closely with the client in managing the planning, design and construction of 3 new underground metro lines in Tel Aviv. The 3 new metro lines will total 149km and 109 metro stations to serve 24 municipalities. Key figures:

  • Operational in 2032.
  • Estimated 2 million passengers per day will benefit from the new metro network.
  • €40bn estimated cost.
  • Benefits to Tel Aviv: 30% increase in public transport use and €8bn in economic benefits to the local economy.

This giga-project requires a Technical Discipline Lead (Track). As Technical Discipline Lead (Track) you will lead the activities relating to rail track within our project METAV Tel Aviv Metro Network Manager.

Job description

  • Carry out a review of the Program’s feasibility study, and of the Line Manager tender documents delivered by METAV.
  • Provide technical, and program feedback and advice on challenges, possible areas of improvements as well as possible alternatives, innovations.
  • Get a deep understanding and perfect knowledge of the Design Standard Manual, Design Task Guide and Network System Architecture of the Track system in order to be able to verify the design that the Line Managers will submit, to answer to their questions and to analyze their proposals.
  • Provide analyses of the LM designs and change proposals to be able to expound them and justify decisions for accepting or rejection.
  • Be able to decide to apply one LM proposal to the other lines for uniformity of the metro network, leading to reduce costs (for construction, integration, operation), to improve operation, make maintenance easier, or to enhance reliability, availability, and safety.
  • Carry on the studies in order to change some points of the metro tender documents and manage the LM to apply them.
  • Coordinate with the other technical disciplines (rail systems, MEP, CW, external stakeholders) for interfaces and be able to provide all required information for the success of integration, Testing and commissioning to get approval on Track system and lead to the metro operation.
  • Serve as the Program’s technical, process and professional expert on behalf of the Client, to make engineering decisions, accept design proposals or technical solutions, make recommendations, resolve technical clashes, etc., instruct and monitor the implementation and adherence to the Client MN Track documentation by Metro Line managers/designers and relevant Program participants
  • Support, as necessary, the Client in providing technical support in relation to the management of Program statutory approval of designs
  • Develop, when needed to be designed/procured at Network Level, the Track (or parts of it) Program’s reference design and/or performance specifications.

Profile

  • Senior Engineer with at least 15 years’ experience in major infrastructure/transportation projects including mass transit
  • Sound knowledge (technical, organizational and processes) of the Track Engineering under similar large metro Projects, especially Track/Alignment Design engineering
  • Good knowledge in Track for “state of the art” Metros.
  • Ability to lead and direct project teams , coordinate with others (multi-cultural teams), control time and application of contract, convey good practices and report technical non-quality to management in relation to its area of expertise
  • Ability to analyze complex situations and propose solution to interface Track with others for the benefit of the MN as whole
  • Capacity and Authority to anticipate, make/substantiate choices/recommendations, manage and interact with stakeholders, client and any Program participants in relation to its area of expertise.
