Egis Road Operation M40 Ltd are looking to speak to Highway Operatives who would like to join us.

The M40 motorway is just over 123kms long linking London M25 with Birmingham. The contract is for routine O&M maintenance with a dedicated incident support unit.

You will be working as part of a team, carrying out Highway Maintenance and other tasks and responding to incidents on a shift rotation basis.

Operatives will be expected to undertake other non- ISU tasks for which they are suitably trained when working night shifts. You shift pattern will be 2 x 12hr day shifts; 2 x 12hr night shifts then 4 days off work, you will be paid for an average 42hr week. Optional overtime is available

Job description

  • Actively participate in briefings and training to enable all duties to be carried out in a safe and sustainable manner.
  • Actively participate in encouraging a positive attitude towards health, safety, and the environment. Reporting to the Team Leader or Foreman any hazards on site. Care for own Health & Safety and that of fellow workers.
  • Carry out safety/debris patrols, identify and make safe defects on the carriageway.
  • Respond to incidents within timeframe
  • Carry out tasks to clear incidents from the highway as instructed by your Team Leader or Foreman.
  • Carry out other highway maintenance activities including kerbing; concrete work; paving and slabbing; laying asphalt; iron works; boundary fence repair and maintenance; sign erecting and vegetation works.
  • Carry out Winter Maintenance Duties taking part in the out-of-hours Emergency Response and Winter Maintenance rotas as requested.
    Record defects on handheld devices and communicate to Foreman/Team Leader
    Installation of Emergency Traffic Management as requested.
  • Install Traffic Management and if required carry out tasks within it as instructed by Team Leader or Foreman.
  • Ensure daily driver checks are undertaken on the ISU vehicle prior to commencing network activity
  • Complete appropriate paperwork relative to task and ensure that the records are passed onto your Team Leader
  • Keep lorries and vans clean and tidy
  • Work in a safe manner at all times
  • Ensure that PPE is kept clean and in good condition
  • Ensure that near misses and hazards are reported in a timely manner.



 

Profile

The ideal candidate will have:

Experience in a similar role
Be literate and numerate
Full training will be given (including HGV training if desired)
