Job description
As a lead estimator and cost planning manager, you will play a major part in providing essential and integral direction and support to the business.
You will be working in a dynamic team with ample opportunity to make a difference in the way we operate and lead in the estimating and cost planning on large and complex Railway, Highways, and civil engineering infrastructure projects.

Main duties and responsibilities:
- Production of estimates on complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
- Production of accurate and comprehensive estimates for projects in a timely and efficient manner.
- Experienced in delivering outline business case through to detailed estimates in line with sector relevant standard method of measurement.
- Undertake Cost Analysis, Cost Modelling and Benchmarking.
- Control and management of the estimating process at project level.
- Operate estimating software systems.
- Supporting development and promotion of estimating best practice.
- Active member in developing and driving the Estimating Hub.
- Assisting in the achievement of departmental objectives.
Profile
· Qualified and experienced in estimating and cost planning.
· Control and manage the estimating process at project level.
· Ensure all estimate outputs use recognised and appropriate methods of measurement rules.
· Support the procurement team with tender and/or contract price analysis and reference to baseline and revised estimates.
· A comprehensive knowledge of cost planning and estimating processes and techniques.
· Relevant and successful rail and infrastructure experience of the provision of cost planning and estimating in the project environment.
· Understanding of the project management, planning, risk assessment and management, and investment authority processes associated with building and / or civil engineering infrastructure projects.
· Experienced in operatoring estimating computer software systems.
· Good communication, analytical, presentation and reporting skills.
