Job description

Role purpose:

To provide project specific services and outcomes as directed by the project lead to meet or exceed client and/or project requirements.  May provide technical leadership on smaller projects or project sub tasks to Consultants &/or Graduate Consultants.  In addition, the Senior Consultant is expected to seek opportunities with existing and potential new clients to develop their network and identify potential new business opportunities to contribute to business development activities.

Core tasks:

The main responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan, manage and conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis, studies and reports across water advisory and infrastructure projects, with skills including (but not necessarily limited to):
  • Planning, design or operations of bulk water infrastructure
  • Dam safety management and investigations
  • Hydrologic assessments of water supply and other infrastructure (flood, yield, climate)
  • Asset management, strategy and planning
  • Risk assessments and risk-based decision frameworks
  • Disaster and emergency management planning
  • Identify and leading concurrent Water industry and general Advisory (consulting) projects, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services and solutions to our clients
  • Co-ordinating sub-consultants and external stakeholders to ensure high quality proposals and project deliverables
  • Leading tasks to ensure they are appropriately assessed, responded to and resolved within required timeframes
  • Development of high-quality proposals as required
  • Promoting Egis’ Infrastructure Advisory services through industry awareness and networking and maintaining key strategic relationships with key industry partners
  • Participating / working within the other areas of the business locally, interstate and globally to collaborate and share knowledge base
  • Maintaining an understanding of the background of the client’s business and industry to facilitate building effective and enduring relationships and consolidating both company and personal credibility in the industry
  • Engaging in Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time.


Key role experiences, competencies and qualifications:

  • Tertiary Qualification(s) in Civil Engineering and at least ten years water industry experience in the areas of:
    • Hydrology and Risk management
    • Dam safety and bulk water management
    • Asset management
  • A Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) or NER or ability to become so registered with water industry competency
  • Sound knowledge of current Good Practice and guidance within the dam and bulk water industries
  • Highly developed organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Client management skills
  • Ability to influence others to achieve outcomes
  • Strong technical, research and analytic skills
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer literate with advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Experience with professional services business environments preferred
