Job title

Regional Legal Counsel and Compliance Manager

Business Line specific context

The Regional Legal Counsel and Compliance Manager will be a member of the Group Legal Department and will collaborate with the other Egis Legal Department’s teams based in France and, as the case may be, in other regions. This position will report directly to the General Counsel of the APAC Region with a dotted line to the Group Ethics and compliance Director.

Key Areas of Responsibilities:

 

Ethics & Compliance

  • Promote corporate ethics & compliance rules, policies and guidelines in the Asia sub-region;
  • Advise in coordination with Ethics & Compliance Group department on the implementation of ethics & compliance controls in regional business processes;
  • Collaborate with internal and external regional/local stakeholders to manage ethics & compliance risks;
  • Empower, engage, educate and train management and employees on ethics & compliance risks;
  • Conduct preventive testing;
  • Ensure regular reporting to Ethics & Compliance Group department;
  • Manage local reporting of ethics & compliance violations and conduct investigations and monitor corrective action plans;
  • Conduct periodic field visits to the sub-region to fulfill responsibilities;
  • Cascade and promote actions of communication on Ethics & Compliance topics;
  • Participate in the Monthly Ethics & Compliance Group Network;
  • Contribute to workshops in order to ensure pragmatic & applicable Compliance processes.

 

Legal

  • Provide to all deployed businesses and functions of the Asia sub-region solution-oriented advice, recommendation, guidance, support and training on all aspects of legal issues and regulatory risks in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements;
  • Assist in the corporate entity housekeeping of the Egis entities in the Asia sub-region;
  • Provide legal support and guidance for commercial projects, agreements and other strategic initiatives to the Egis operations in the Asia sub-region;
  • Manage and supervise disputes, legal actions and litigation in the Asia sub-region;
  • Perform ad-hoc assignments or projects as required by Legal Department.

 

Requirements:

  • University Degree Holder in Law with a recognized university;
  • Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in a similar position with a regional scope in Asia;
  • Pragmatic and have good writing and communication skills, especially written English and Chinese;
  • Rigorous, honest, convincing and a good negotiator;
  • Able to adapt in a multicultural environment;
  • “Hands-on” business partner attitude with a solution-oriented mindset, the highest integrity and professionalism, and passion for excellence and quality across various business functions in a fast-paced environment.
