Job description

The programme commercial manager will have experience of leading large teams and strong leadership in a complex environment. This will include senior-level experience of policy and direction setting of practical and effective strategic sourcing and supply chain contracts. This will require strong supplier engagement and development skills to drive effective contract and supplier relationship management. The programme commercial manager will be required to utilise the application of best practice supply chain management within a relevant market to push benefits delivery (financial and non-financial) within the project environment. The programme commercial manager will maintain an active membership of a relevant professional body with chartered status and be educated to degree level, or of exceptional ability. 

The key services of the Programme Commercial Manager are anticipated as, but not limited to the following;

  • Will lead the development and management of positive supplier relationships through open and constructive dialogue.
  • Will provide strategic direction and implement clear sourcing strategies for designated programmes, driving best practice processes and systems in areas of pre-contract management.
  • The Programme Commercial Manager will lead the negotiation of high value, complex contracts to support delivery of business priorities and manage the efficient and effective delivery of those contacts, where applicable.
  • Will seek to mitigate potential business risk through contractual, commercial and claims management support.
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders, customers and suppliers and act as the commercial lead for designated programmes
  • Lead the management of procurement and commercial activity within a designated programme and project areas.

Profile

Membership of a relevant professional body with chartered status and/or educated to degree level.
• Varied experience of large and complex construction projects.
• Relevant successful experience of provision of QS services in a large project environment.
• Practive stakeholder management
• Understanding of project management, planning risk, and investment processes
• Knowledge of railway and construction industry conditions of contract.
