Egis Road and Tunnel Operation Ireland (ERTO) is an Irish company established in 2005 and is part of Egis Projects Ireland. We manage Dublin Tunnel, Jack Lynch Tunnel and the Motorway Traffic Control Centre (MTCC) for Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII). 

 

ERTO's responsibility is to manage all processes associated with the Operation and Maintenance of the Dublin Tunnel, Jack Lynch Tunnel and the MTCC.  We are located at the Dublin Tunnel Control Building on East Wall Road.

 

The position’s holder is responsible towards compliance with the three Codes of Ethics, Integrity and Human Resources Management Code, internal rules, all local regulations and Health & Safety rules that apply in for the Egis Road and Tunnel Operation activities.

Job description

  • Responsible for the leadership and management of the Motorway Operations Control Centre (MOCC) & services that this control room provides – motorway traffic control and tunnel control
  • In charge of the day-to-day management of the MOCC acting as the lead contact point for the client, operational partners and stakeholders
  • Manage TII’s advanced motorway and tunnel management system applications
  • Monitor quality of all notifications and communications sent to stakeholders and public
  • Liaise with other ERTO departments and stakeholders to facilitate, maintain and develop new and existing systems though a capital expenditure programme
  • Ensure compliance with applicable contractual obligations
  • Liaise, on behalf of the client, with operational partners and stakeholders
  • Facilitate operations by guiding critical decisions and development SOP’s
  • Developing special event response plans and guiding/ training on these
  • Ensure staff and other resources are being utilised effectively and efficiently
  • Identify, develop and report on measures of effectiveness for the MOCC by providing KPI’s on transportation management, traveller information, incident management and vehicle detection system data to managers, stakeholders and motorway/tunnel users
  • Prepare regular reports on the performance of MOCC operations
  • Write and present on technical aspects for the MOCC
  • Taking all actions within the scope of the Service in an environmentally responsible manner

Profile

Level eight qualification recognised by the National Framework of Qualifications Ireland, or other equivalent qualification in an appropriate discipline

At least 5 years control room experience managing people is essential and a minimum of 2 years traffic control room management

Tunnel control room management is desirable

Previous experience with responsibility for the development and management of operations, in particular control room with advanced traffic systems, SCADA or similar control systems

An understanding of client relationships and reporting, including stakeholder liaison

Demonstrated ability in employee mentoring and development

Strong networking abilities and creative problem solving

Change management experience to lead continuous improvement of operating efficiencies

A high level of numeracy and demonstrable analytical skills

Excellent written & verbal communication skills

Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic operational environment
