Egis has been working in Romania for more than 25 years, providing engineering and consultancy services in road and rail transport sectors as well as water and environment, energy, urban development and other institutional advisory services.

For day-to-day legal activities we require an in-house legal counsel to support our growth. The role will be dedicated to Egis Romanian territory and may possibly extend to other countries to be further defined.

Job description

Reporting into Egis Romania Country Manager and dotted line to the Egis group legal team and depending on your level of experience, the job of a legal counsel will require you to be able to:

▬    Manage the company’s contractual risk exposure for all contract types, including drafting and reviewing, amending and negotiating design/design and build/turnkey contracts, consortium agreements, NDA, MoU, etc

▬    Use judgement to recommend the correct resolution of contractual issues. 

▬    Ensure effective business governance, including Trade Registry modifications

▬    Manage all legal activities for the company, including putting in place and managing any external legal support contracts (eg for litigations etc)

▬    Implement effective policies to ensure effective contract administration and management for operational projects, including claim management, contract variations etc

▬    Provide expert advice regarding legal and commercial implications of specific terms and conditions in contracts, legal risks analysis

▬    Ensure that contracts and proposals are properly entered into organizational databases and securely maintained and comply with Egis internal processes, including

▬    Collaborate with other departments of the Group Legal Department (including insurances, corporate, litigations) and external counsels;

▬    Providing training and advice where needed regarding legal matters

▬    Advise on employment related matters

▬    Support all departments of the company in respect of their specific matters/needs

Profile

We recognize that each applicant will bring different experience, but the ideal candidate will have:

▬    At least 8 years of proven experience in a similar position in an international company in the field of engineering, construction activities;

▬    Prior experience in drafting and handling international contracts (including public procurement laws, international contractual standards such as FIDIC, NEC, etc)

▬    Strong knowledge of the public procurement regulations

▬    Law University degree, qualified as a lawyer being an advantage

▬    Good skills in organising, scheduling, planning

▬    Flexibility and adaptability

▬    High level of accountability and ability to work independently

▬    Very good spoken and written English

▬    Strong computer skills (proficiency in recognised design software and Microsoft applications).
