Job description

Egis Industries leader of the Consortium SICOS with Tractebel and Setec is seeking enthusiastic V.I.E site engineer with a drive to work on the design and construction of the Hinkley Point C (HPC) nuclear new build power plant, currently one of the world’s largest construction projects.

 Hinkley Point C is set to be the benchmark for future construction of similar projects in the UK. This is a great way to be exposed to the latest technology and digital construction methods with 3D BIM rebar modelling in TEKLA on such a large industrial project.

 We are looking to grow our Site Engineering Team located on the construction site in Somerset across multiple disciplines and are looking for people who thrive in a dynamic environment, who can work collaboratively to deliver innovative and technical solutions to our client’s problems and construction team problems involving design aspect.

 As part of the SICOS Site Engineering Design Team, you will be part of a site design team of civil engineers, a BIM Coordinator and Draftsmen working on the most complicated RC structures of Nuclear Island buildings in the Hinkley Point C project (in particular, Reactor buildings, Fuel building, Safeguard buildings). You will assist Senior Site Engineer in collaboration with Chief Draftsman and Drafting team to answer to site requests on the design package released by the design back office in France. In addition, you will assist technical lead to develop simplified approaches and calculation tools to accelerate the validation of site requests. 

This role will require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance.

Main duties and responsibilities:

You will be involved in the wide-ranging activities undertaken by our site-based teams, which will include:

  • Working on 3D BIM rebar modelling in TEKLA with the help of the BIM Coordinator and understand the RC 3D works or 2D drawings done by drafting team;
  • Assist site engineer on his task:
    - Response to Field Information requests and changes;
    - Close out of design issues;
    - Assessment and implementation of the change request coming from the civil works contractors;
    - Assessment of the Non-Conformance coming from the civil works contractors;
    - Design Surveillance during construction;
    - Technical review and acceptance of contractor deliverables;
  • Site Walkdowns and inspection.

You may be required to undertake other such duties as the organisation may reasonably require.

 

Profile

Your skills are important and your attitude towards taking on fresh challenges to innovative 3D rebar modelling is key. You’ll enjoy working closely with other Engineers, Engineer’s Pilot, BIM Coordinator, BIM Manager, Chief Draftsman, Draftsman, Project Managers and multi-disciplinary teams and be able to work with these stakeholders to define solutions.

  • Qualification: Engineer or Student in the fifth year of engineer cursus (Bac+5)
  • Languages: Good english.
  • Computing Skills: Good knowledge in FE analysis, ANSYS, Excel, and familiar with BIM process
  • Profile: Curiosity, Rigour, Communication are essential.
