Job description

Galson Sciences Limited (GSL) is a dynamic consultancy and research company, specialized in radioactive waste management, surface, near surface and geological disposal and decommissioning worldwide. GSL joined the Egis group in April 2021. Egis is a major international multidisciplinary consulting and engineering, and mobility services group, with an over 70-year involvement in nuclear engineering worldwide and more than 40 years experience in tunneling and geotechnical projects. The merger has created excellent synergies, expanding the range and depth of experience offering in support of radioactive waste management solutions in the UK, in France and abroad.

 

To support the thriving radioactive waste management market opportunities in the UK, and strengthen the collaboration between GSL and our Geotechnics and Tunnels team which headquarter is located in France, we create a dedicated position embedded in GSL team to develop Egis position in the UK to offer Geotechnics and Tunnels services to the UK radioactive waste management programme and also to other UK major structures opportunities that might arise.

Overall purpose

Reporting to Geotechnics Director of Operation, his/her main objectives are :

  • To map UK radioactive waste management programme needs in terms of geotechnical, underground, tunneling expertise, against combined GSL and Egis capabilities
  • To interface with GSL representatives and Egis key actors to identify and implement technical, commercial, and operational opportunities to strengthen the collaboration between GSL and Egis Geotechnics and Tunnels team.
  • To support and promote the involvement of Geotechnics and Tunnels team on Geotechnics and Tunnels projects already followed in the UK as well as other Egis domains present in the UK (airport, rail, road operation)
  • To provide in-depth geotechnical/tunneling expertise to current GSL and Egis projects, with the back-up of Geotechnics and Tunnels team, mainly located in France

Activities

Multi-faceted role within our company.

  • Understanding the capabilities, and fostering the commercial, technical and operational synergies between GSL and Egis Geotechnics and Tunnels team
  • Identifying and leading strategic opportunities
  • Management of client and stakeholder relationships
  • Business development activities including, but not limited to, technical bid writing
  • Management or technical delivery of high quality engineering and consultancy projects within your area of specialism, in connection with the Geotechnics and Tunnels resources in France
  • Peer review of deliverables and proposals

Profile

You will have a Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, with a specialization in geotechnics and underground works and 4 to 10 Years of experience in geotechnical or tunneling engineering in the UK or abroad, on large projects.

You also have an experience of : 

  • GIR (Ground Investigation Reports) and geotechnical software (Plaxis, Flac, Geostudio).
  • business development, project management and client engagement

Experience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:

  • work in the nuclear industry, and in particular radioactive waste management planning/options assessment, disposal, nuclear safety and related fields, potentially with experience at nuclear sites;
  • written and oral communication skills in France

Position based in Oakham (UK) or other Egis UK Offices as appropriate (Bristol, Farnborough, Manchester, or London) with frequent trips to French Offices in Grenoble and Annecy.
