EGIS Rail have a newly created position for a Commercial Manager that will be involved in various Rail projects. One of our biggest projects at present is the Cork Area Commuter Rail Programme. This project focuses on the Rail signalling and communications improvements which will facilitate the planned increases in rail capacity and service frequency, bolster the signalling system's reliability, and support Iarnród Éireann’s continued safe operation of the railway.

Job description

As the Commercial Manager, you will have the day-to-day responsibility to manage Egis’ or Clients obligations on large infrastructure projects. As part of the Core Team, you will work closely with the Project Manager/Director to provide lead in all commercial and contractual functions for the successful delivery of this project including management of the project deliverables to the Client expectations.

 
This role will be based in Cork, Ireland, where you will work from the office 3-4 days per week.

You will be responsible for;

  • Administering the awarded NEC4 Option C D&B Target Cost contract
  • Defining the Commercial and Cost standards and procedures
  • Developing a Commercial and Cost Team including establishing clear roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities from the mobilisation to delivery and commissioning stages
  • Responsible for capturing, monitoring, forecasting and reporting the financial status of the programme, to ensure deliverability within the funding envelope and compliance with all governance
  • Leading on the supplier relationship activities including all aspects of contract management
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable standards, legislation and governance arrangements
  • Providing commercial expertise/advice to the Programme and project teams
  • Ensuring contractual compliance on behalf of the Client
  • Using and interpreting Earned Value.
  • Managing invoicing and collection activities and interface with the central finance team
  • Ensuring compliance with financial Year End accounting practices
  • Providing analysis of change requests that may have a contractual/cost impact
  • Providing guidance, and where necessary leadership, on how
  • Compensation Events should be prepared, presented and negotiated.
    Assisting with Tendering and/or supporting other projects
     

Collaboration

  • Interface with and support other commercial managers
  • Foster key relationships, internally and externally
  • Provide guidance on terms and conditions for the benefit of the broader project team
  • Form strong relationships with the Project Team, Project Engineers and
  • Managers, Client, Stakeholders and Contractors in order to draw out and investigate key issues
  • Provide support to senior management and participation in commercial negotiations with customers, Procurement, Sub-contractors and other relevant parties

Profile

Qualifications, Skills And Experience

  • Minimum 15 years as a commercial manager, preferably within a rail/rail infrastructure environment
  • Experienced in using NEC 3 or 4 contracts, preferably Option C - target cost contracts at post-contract stage
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or related commercial management qualification;
  • Analytical with good negotiating skills and excellent commercial awareness and a robust and challenging mindset;
  • Understanding of the principles and application of construction law;
  • Adept at presenting to a varied audience at all levels of a business
  • Previous experience of a large programme of works
  • Strong dispute management skills and experience in handling claims and settlements
  • Superb attention to detail
  • A sound background in contract interpretation, with experience in
  • Contract Law beneficial
  • An understanding of the commercial impact of meeting/failing performance criteria
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to represent Egis at a senior level
  • A confident and strong communicator
    Excellent IT Skills – Word/Excel/PowerPoint
