The Design Manager is the Primary and Principal role for the technical delivery of the Civil, Structural, Architectural and MEP Design of underground railway civil structure. You will support our regional Asia Pacific design and build contracts where Egis acts as the design consultant for contractors.

Dependent on project structure, you will report to the Project Director to lead and manage design teams to fulfill civil design contracts in the Asia region, based out of our Regional Technical Center in Bangkok.

Our design teams who will be engaged with the Design Manager are civils, structural, tunneling, geotechnical, architecture, MEP, trackworks and others.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the main point of contact for the Client (Contractor) for day-to-day engineering, technical and production matters
• Be the Nominated Responsible Person for sign off of all technical deliverables to the Employer
• Report and engage with the Client, Employer, Government Agencies and other Stakeholders as necessary for the successful delivery of the design
• Engage with and allow for all system design requirements for the overall functioning of the railway, with the system design provided as part of another contract by others and to be determined.
• Plan, manage and control the design teams necessary for the delivery of all of the scope of works required for the contract works (Structural, Civil, Tunnels, Architecture, MEP, Temporary Works, Geotechnical, etc)
• Coordinate and Manage all technical and design related activities
• Provide leadership and to establish and maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with all those involved in the project, particularly with the client and multinational and multi-cultural design teams.
• In conjunction with the Project Director, prepare and monitor Project Implementation Plan - to monitor and manger the project to meets the quality, cost, productivity and scheduling demands.
• Prepare progress reporting, checkpoints and monthly reporting monthly for the Project.
• To work closely with the Project Director to ensure that the technical delivery, financial reporting and planning requirements are met
• o meet at regular intervals with the Regional Management and to keep them currently advised on the status of the progress of the work and key issues.
• To have a complete and thorough knowledge and understanding of the Contract Documents, the General Contract and the Subcontracts
• Proactively engage in scheduled and other audits by the Regional and International Management Teams.

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
• Demonstratable Experience of underground metro design and/or project management (Minimum 10 years)
• Demonstratable Technical Experience of underground structures design (Minimum 10 years) either in underground structures or tunnels.
• Experience of working on design for metro projects in the Asia region (Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam etc).
• Sound knowledge of British and Eurocodes
• Excellent client service skills
• Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills
• Sound technical knowledge related to design of railways and other transport related projects.
• Planning, resourcing, budgeting and commercial acumen
• Proven team leadership and design management skills
• Good interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively within a dynamic culturally diverse and multi-disciplinary environment.
• Fluency in English.
