We work in the transport and energy sectors, providing consultancy, engineering and operations services for clients such as major airports, governments, regulators, cities and rail and road operators.

 

With over 50 years of experience in the rail industry, we’ve delivered complex and challenging multidisciplinary projects all over the world. Our expertise extends to depots, operations, maintenance analytics and asset management across all aspects of rail, including transport, technical and sustainability assessments and systems infrastructure.

 

As an BIM Manager you will take the leading key role in setting and implementing the design and delivery process as well as an important role in the implementation of the project execution strategy, ensuring all BIM outputs are produced to a high standard.

 

Based in either our Birmingham or London office.

 

The BIM Manager is part of the Engineering and Integration Team and is accountable for BIM implementation on every project,

Job description

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:    

 

BIM Team Management

  • Manage the BIM team (including BIM coordinators, Doc controllers and GIS specialists)
  • Support BIM coordinators and Project information engineers to implement all BIM requirements on projects
  • Provide in house training to BIM Coordinators around process

 

BIM Management

  • Define EGIS’ BIM strategy and BIM uses
  • Define a BIM implementation plan and road map to reach BIM Level 2 (including program)
  • BIM implementation
  • Ensure BIM processes and protocols for input data management and external deliverables / published documentation
  • Defines collaborative process and procedures (including 2D and 3D clash detection)
  • Evaluate software and hardware needs for deliverables
  • Ensure file naming convention is applied
  • Ensure BIM library is developed
  • Contributes to the input in the procurement phases

 

BIM development

  • Define approach to project modelling (2D - 3D), develop and support
  • Coordinates the CAD/3D model manual
  • Ensure that 3D Models and GIS are well integrated
  • Develop GIS / 3D modelling (phased plans) / schedule interfaces
  • On projects, the BIM Manager will report to Project Directors and/or Design Leads, depending on project size / workload.

 

This role may also include working on projects internationally for EGIS Transport Solutions or other EGIS subsidiaries.

 

Skills and experience

  • BIM Manager / Senior Technician with at least 10 years’ experience in major infrastructure/transportation projects.
  • Proven capability in managing design interfaces and integration processes
  • Experience of working in an engineering production environment
  • A railway, transportation or construction background
  • A clear understanding of our multi-disciplinary design approach and the delivery of projects to a high quality, throughout all design stage gates
  • Good knowledge of UK design standards, such as Network Rail, HS2 and TfL
  • Experience of Implementing BIM Level 2 Accreditation / Certification to ISO 19650 within a Business Environment
  • Excellent understanding of all relevant BIM standards, design integration procedures and relevant legislation
  • Experience of using REVIT, Civil 3D, Navisworks, MicroStation AECOSim, Open Rail, Synchro, Topodot and/or other similar software.
  • Knowledge of Dynamo for REVIT and ability to write scripts
  • Experience of working in a Project Coordination role
  • Excellent leadership skills and mentoring experience
  • An ability to train and upskill team members
  • Ability to use modelling and analytical tools to demonstrate reduction and/or elimination of health and safety risks in the design process
  • Experience of supporting the organisation to build and grow successfully
