The Accountant is  responsible for the overall accounting operations: report, taxation and ensure they are well prepared and managed to keep accounting up to date, in accordance with accounting standards and in line with the accounting standards, financial guidelines and PFMA 2015 but also with company policy.

Job description

Key Responsibilities :

  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures and manage outsourced functions,
  • Enthusiastically partake in preparation of financial reports in line with financial guidelines,
  • Prepare the Company's General Ledger,
  • Maintain periodic Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable & Inventory lists,
  • Maintain lists of Fixed Assets and their depreciations,
  • Prepare all the payment transactions,
  • Update invoicing / payments follow-up,
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliation,
  • Develop risk matrix and put in place risk mitigation measures,
  • Prepare Company's tax returns and social contributions,
  • Assist in the preparations for the year-end audit,
  • Control expenses: suppliers, agencies, payroll, petty cash etc,
  • Payroll review and support,
  • Prepare purchase invoices,
  • Entering bank transactions and reconciling to source ledgers,
  • Cash collection and credit control,
  • Monthly reporting and analysis to the Financial controller,
  • Balance sheet reconciliations (including bank),
  • Budgeting and forecasting support,
  • Supporting monthly consolidation activities for the company, including Egis Uganda P&L from entity inputs,  
  • Perform ad-hoc administrative tasks as assigned by management.

Profile

Required Qualifications and Work Experience :

  • At least a Bachelor's degree in Fnance or Accounting, Economics, Business Administration of related field,
  • At least 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience for a major large corporation,
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance obligations relevant to financial reporting, taxation, and other financial matters,
  • Software Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems and Microsoft suite especially MS Excel for financial modeling and analysis is essential,
  • Excellent communication skills are essential.
