We work in the transport and energy sectors, providing consultancy, engineering and operations services for clients such as major airports, governments, regulators, cities and rail and road operators.

With over 50 years of experience in the rail industry, we’ve delivered complex and challenging multidisciplinary projects all over the world. Our expertise extends to depots, operations, maintenance analytics and asset management across all aspects of rail, including transport, technical and sustainability assessments and systems infrastructure.

Currently Egis Rail has a limited involvement in producing design relying on subcontract support. The intention is to expand our current capabilities while developing a design team. We are looking to open a dedicated design office in 2023.

Job description

As a CAD Technician you will be an integral member of the team as it grows. You will be required to support the engineering teams in current commissions which may be 2D, 3D or BIM Level 2. We are looking for someone who will take this challenge head on, be part of a dynamic team with big ambitions. We will be looking to provide capabilities across light, heavy and metro rail systems and work alongside developing signalling and track teams.

 

The role is to be based at our Head Offices in London Waterloo. Candidates preferring to be based in Birmingham will also be considered.

 

The CAD Technician will be part of a team dedicated to developing a get it right first time culture, responsibilities are likely to include:

 

  • Supporting in developing engineering designs using best practice details and bespoke solutions
  • Contributing to the CAD best practice library
  • Providing BIM Level 2 support from creation of documentation, to validation and As Built Close Out
  • Managing BIM models
  • Contributing in your specialized discipline but also supporting other engineering disciplines where required

 

This role may also include working on projects internationally for other EGIS subsidiaries.

 

 

Qualifications, Skills, Experience & Attributes

 

  • Experience in CAD design preferably in a railway environment
  • Understanding of BIM level 2
  • Willingness to develop to suit the needs of the business
  • Experience of supporting the organisation to build and grow successfully
  • Right to work in the UK

 

 

Desirable:

 

  • Good experience of BIM Level 2
  • Railway Discipline Specialist Experience
  • Use of supporting software for 3D modelling or specialist areas such as reinforcement detailing
  • Experience of track design software
